This is how many conversations between Avi and her editor started. Avi would show up to work with a great idea for a story, and her editor would shoot it down, like it was a clay pigeon whose only crime was being in the air.

This would go on for some time, with Avi shouting things like, "There's something going on in the woods, and I know I can find out what," and Avi's editor firmly but definitively stating things like "What you're telling me you want to write a story about is you having followed somebody into their private property," and other very reasonable concerns.

Avi, of course, had had this conversation before, and decided once again to simply not let any of the reasonable concerns bother her.
