The Secret of the Cave

As early in the morning as her personality let her set her alarm clock, Avi settles down in the clearing around the hatch with the big stack of nature and biology books she'd borrowed from the library. Determined to figure out exactly what had attacked her, Avi quickly forgot about the reason she was waiting at the hatch in the first place.

Avi so much didn't think about the reason she was there that, even when she got distracted by yet another attempt to pull the hatch open, she failed to notice what may have been obvious to anyone else. One of those things was the person she'd been trying to interview the day before, rustling through the bushes, and then climbing up a tree behind her.

Until she noticed.
